ESU’s Research and Economic in Collaboration with Community Entrepreneurs to Discuss Leading Edge Technology in Free Business Seminars

East Stroudsburg University’s Research and Economic Development (RED) division, in collaboration with several community partners will host a series of informative business seminars focused on advancements in web development and product design.
ESU will team with Pennsylvania CareerLink Monroe County, Pocono Mountains Economic Development Corporation, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce and the Pocono Mountains Keystone Innovation Zone for seminars beginning Tuesday, November 19.
The Entrepreneurs-on-Entrepreneurship: Leading Edge Technology Boot camps will be in the ESU Innovation Center, 562 Independence Road (Brown Street and Route 447) and the Niedbala Auditorium in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center on ESU’s campus.
The series includes:
- Modern Web Development
- Tuesday, November 19, 5 to 8 p.m.
- Innovation Center, 562 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, Pa.
- Led by Jonathan Weber, president and founder of Marathon Studios, Inc.
The Modern Web Development Boot camp is an intensive, three-hour seminar designed to introduce industry standards in interactive web development. Content includes front-end design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and common frameworks) and back-end development (PHP and SQL databases). Seminar notes and hands-on exercises will be provided. Computer proficiency is required, and some programming experience is recommended.
- Product Design and Development Seminar
- Tuesday, December 3, 6 to 8 p.m.
- Niedbala Auditorium, Warren ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center on ESU’s campus
- Led by Matt Somerfield, president of MTS Ventures, Inc.
This seminar, also known as MTS Boot camp, will highlight key steps and considerations in the product design and development process. Somerfield will demonstrate the typical product development process and relation to key product, market and business concerns. MTS Ventures has engineered dozens of commercialized products and provides services in industrial design, engineering, prototyping, testing and production manufacturing.
