ESU SAAC Holds Annual Holiday Party at Head Start in East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg University’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its fourth annual holiday party for more than 100 children at Head Start on West 4th Street in East Stroudsburg on Thursday, December 5.

More than 60 of ESU’s student-athletes participated, either by attending or in preparing for the event. Activities included making a magnetic snowman photo frame, a snowman sticker scene and a multi-colored ornament, and making a banner with the hand print of each child which will be displayed in the school hallway.

The children also had an opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa, which will be printed and given back to each child. They also received gifts and snacks, and had their faces painted with holiday themes if they desired.

Members of SAAC applied for and received an NCAA-PSAC grant to cover the costs of this community service initiative.

The 2013-14 SAAC officers are president Kaitlin Blum (field hockey/softball), vice president Rebecca Smith (field hockey/softball), secretary Allison Schafer (swimming) and treasurer Alexis Good (field hockey).
