ESU’s Music Department and Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival to Present Carnival of the Animals

The East Stroudsburg University/Community Orchestra will perform Camille Saint-Saëns musical suite, Carnival of the Animals, at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 9, in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of the University’s Fine & Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets.
Otis French, Ph.D., ESU associate professor of music, will conduct the orchestra in Saint-Saëns’ light-hearted classic, which features 14 sections, each representing a different animal or animals. Broadway performer Pearce Wegener will read poet Ogden Nash’s lively narration to the suite.
Betsy Buzzelli-Clarke, Ed.D., ESU associate professor and chair of music, and Jenny Collins, ESU music instructor, are featured pianists for the concert.
Prior to the performance, ESU’s department of theatre will conduct an interactive workshop for children on how to create animal characters and puppets at 2 p.m. in the recital hall.
The concert and workshop, sponsored by Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival and ESU’s department of music, are open to the public at no cost. No tickets are necessary.
