ESU Wins $4 million National Science Foundation Grant for Scholarships and Research

In the largest single grant ever awarded to East Stroudsburg University, the National Science Foundation (NSF) is giving $4 million to help transfer students complete their education at ESU in the fields of science, technology and math.

The five-year grant for the project — dubbed Clear Path — provides scholarships for about 120 students who start their education at community colleges and transfer to ESU for bachelor’s degrees in such fields as biochemistry, physics, computer science and mathematics.

ESU to Host Spring Commencement Exercises May 6, 7

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will award a record 1,166 degrees at separate commencement exercises for undergraduate and graduate students on May 6 and 7.

ESU will hold three graduation ceremonies: one for graduate students on Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. and two ceremonies for undergraduate students on Saturday, May 7.

Video of Accepted CILLS Program Participant Goes Viral, Puts East Stroudsburg University on the Map

A 50-second video of Rachel Grace learning she was accepted to the Career, Independent Living & Learning Studies (CILLS) program sponsored by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania went viral a few days after her mom posted it on Facebook March 25, and by last week it had been viewed more than 14 million times.

The heart-warming video shows Rachel, a 20-year-old North Penn High School student who has Down syndrome, opening and reading aloud her acceptance notice to the CILLS program, and hollering happily, “I got in!” to her excited parents, Deb and Tom.

College of Health Sciences Debuts Radio Show on WESS

Faculty of the College of Health Sciences at East Stroudsburg University are launching a weekly broadcast on WESS 90.3 FM , the university’s student-run radio station, where they will inform listeners how to get healthy starting this holiday season.

The show titled “Healthy Warriors” will be aired every Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

It is designed to utilize the expertise of the faculty in the College of Health Sciences to explore, discuss and provide information on a variety of topics that are current and relevant within the health sciences. Sample topics include weight loss, concussion, health myths, stress reduction, health literacy, and nutritional supplements.
