On Wednesday, March 20 the club with host Piece of Mind: An Exhibit with Focus on Mental Health. The art exhibit will feature submissions from the ESU community that include drawings, graphic design, paintings, and visual poetry. Each piece will depict something related to mental health. The art will be displayed in Common Grounds, inside the University Center, at 7 p.m. Attendees will be asked to vote on pieces that stand out to them. Two winners will be chosen, and the two selected artists will each be awarded with a $50 Visa gift card. For information about submitting artwork contact activeminds.esu@gmail.com.
On Tuesday, March 26 the club will host guest speaker Johanna Kandel, the founder and CEO of The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness and the author of Life Beyond Your Eating Disorder. After recovering from a decade long battle with eating disorders, she has dedicated her life to creating access to care and hope for those living with an eating disorder. Since 2000, The Alliance has provided access to care, as well as information and awareness about eating disorders, to more than 300,000 individuals internationally. As a passionate advocate for eating disorders, Kandel has met with members of Congress, was part of the first-ever Eating Disorder Roundtable at the White House, and is member of the board of directors for the Eating Disorders Coalition. Kandel’s presentation “Using your Voice for Change” will take place at 7 p.m. in Stroud Hall, Room 113.
