Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., president of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) and Burgy, the school’s mascot, distributed breakfast bars this week in front of Stroud Hall as part of the Commuter Student Appreciation Celebration. From left, Maegan Mostellar, a freshman majoring in early childhood and special education, from Stroudsburg, Pa., talks with Dr. Welsh. Other commuter student events this week include programs relevant to commuter student needs such as tenant rights and responsibilities, and reading rental agreements. Giveaways of free parking passes and gift cards were a highlight for contest winners throughout the week.
The ESU Office of Commuter Student Services supports the mission of ESU, and the Division of Student Affairs, by providing a variety of programs and services for members of the off-campus community. Commuter students make up about two-thirds of the undergraduate student body. Commuter Student Services provides a number of services and programs to help commuter students to participate in campus activities and feel more connected to ESU, including the Road Warrior newsletter, seminars, workshops and social gatherings.
