Faculty and Students Set to Present at Eastern Psychological Association Annual Conference

Founded in 1896, the Eastern Psychological Association is the oldest regional Psychological Association in the United States. The goal of EPA is to advance the science and profession through the dissemination of professional information about the field of psychology. The annual conference attracts approximately 2,000 professors, graduate students, and undergraduate students in psychology from New England and the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

ESU Student Named Semifinalist in 6th Annual PA State System Business Plan Competition

East Stroudsburg University senior Tammy Tuckey was selected as one of 17 semifinalists in the 6th Annual Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Student Business Plan Competition. Tuckey, a business management major, submitted her business, The Tiara Talk Show, a YouTube channel talk show featuring actors, composers and cast members of the Walt Disney Company or its subsidiaries, in the competition. More than 200 students from across the Commonwealth competed in this year’s competition. Student finalists will be selected in early March and the winners will be announced at the Business Plan Awards Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg.

Provost’s Colloquium Series Continues with Hitchcock Reframed

ESU Presents The 39 Steps

“Hitchcock meets hilarious” is how Director Stephanie Daventry French, professor of theatre, described the upcoming production of The 39 Steps, a lighthearted adaptation by Patrick Barlow of the classic film, which is being presented February 28 – March 5 by East Stroudsburg University’s Department of Theatre.

To bring this 2008 Drama Desk award winner, with an abundance of zany characters and fast-paced action, to the ESU stage, French and set designer Emma McDonough, a junior from Matamoras, Pa. majoring in technical theater, have reconfigured the interior of the Fine and Performing Arts Center’s Dale Snow Theatre to provide multiple playing areas for the comedy’s many scenes.

Governor Wolf Proposes Third Straight Year of Increased Funding for State System

Gov. Tom Wolf unveiled his proposed 2017-18 Commonwealth budget today, recommending a third straight year of increased funding for Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.

The governor’s proposal would provide the State System about $453.1 million next year to help fund the operations of the 14 state-owned universities, an increase of almost $9 million from the current year’s funding level.

English Major Attends The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS)

Halle Frisco of Mechanicsburg is working in the state historic preservation office of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of a 15-week internship sponsored by Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.

Frisco is a junior English major with a minor in communications and a concentration in professional and media writing at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. She is one of 11 students participating in The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS) program, which provides students the opportunity to work in all areas of state government while earning a full semester’s worth of credits. THIS invites students from each of the 14 State System universities to participate.

New Season of ‘Infinite Opportunities’ Premiers January 29th on PCN

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will be featured on “Infinite Opportunities,” a weekly, half-hour, public affairs program featuring Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education universities. The show will engage viewers in roundtable discussions with faculty, staff, students and alumni during its third season, which will premiere at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN).
