ESU Hosts Meet the Author and Book Signing, November 30

When Fernando Alcántar’s immigrated to the United States at 18 years old, he converted to Protestant Christianity and looked to his faith for comfort. While attending a Christian University in Los Angeles for his undergraduate and graduate studies, Alcántar worked to oversee hundreds of ministries, churches, and missionaries, and eventually became a director of ministries to young people for the California-Hawaii region of the United Methodist Church.

ESU Calls for MLK Award Nominations

Presented at the 19th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Celebration Breakfast at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania on Monday, January 18, 2015 at 8 a.m. in the Mattioli Recreation Center.

Three awards will be presented. One award will go to a member of the ESU community, the second award will go to an ESU student, and the third award will go to a member of the regional community. Candidates from the community must be actively involved in Monroe County working to improve the community in ways such as advocating for education, working with children and youth, underprivileged and underrepresented groups, etc. ESU candidates must be currently employed by the university as a faculty member, staff member, or administrator. ESU student candidates must be currently enrolled for at least two full-time semesters with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
