East Stroudsburg University (ESU) hosted its annual “Together at the Table” event, a heartwarming Thanksgiving Dinner initiative aimed at bringing together students in the International Program and those who remain on campus during the Thanksgiving break. Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude and togetherness, and ESU is ensuring that no student feels alone during the season. The “Together at the Table” event provides an opportunity for students to experience the warmth of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, forge connections, and create lasting memories.
This year, the ‘Together at the Table’ event experienced an increase in participation, providing dinner for 30 students. The notable increase in attendance from prior years underscores the event’s effectiveness in fostering a sense of communal connection, particularly for individuals who may not have alternative Thanksgiving plans. The dinner featured a sumptuous spread of classic Thanksgiving dishes, including roast turkey, bread stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, spiced sweet potatoes, whole berry and jellied cranberry sauce, and more. For dessert, a delightful array of seasonal pies was offered, including the traditional apple and pumpkin varieties.
This event is made possible through collaboration among various campus departments, including The Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, Counseling and Psychological Services, The CARE Program, The Gender and Sexuality Center, Health and Wellness, International Programs, Residential and Dining Services, and Academic Affairs. The event aims to foster a sense of community and belonging among students who may be far from home during this special time. “Together at the Table” encourages cultural exchange by providing an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to share their traditions and experiences.
