On Saturday, March 23 five members of the East Stroudsburg University chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) attended Temple University PRSSA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. The faculty advisor Cem Zeytinoglu, Ph.D., professor of communication, accompanied ESU’s PRSSA contingent to Philadelphia and guided them to meet and network with the PR professionals who attended the conference. The PRSSA members who visited Temple are Shane Hamar, a senior majoring in communication studies from Blakeslee, Pa. and secretary of ESU’s chapter of PRSSA;  Shauna Charlton, a junior majoring in communication studies from Stroudsburg, Pa.; Angalyse Keyock, a junior majoring in communication studies from Easton, Pa.; Brian Ellis, a junior majoring in communication studies from Philadelphia, Pa. and historian of ESU’s chapter of PRSSA; and Johanna Stubenhofer, a sophomore majoring in communication studies from Bensalem, Pa.

Students had the opportunity to attend sessions led by the leading public relations professionals and scholars in the region, and they spoke to them personally after each session to get their advice and opinions about their future profession. ESU PRSSA members also attended networking sessions to meet with some potential employers and discuss future internships and jobs. The notable people the ESU group met includes Gregg Feistman, assistant chair for public relations and associate professor of practice at Temple University and faculty advisor for Temple PRSSA; Alan Tempest, executive director of the Philly Ad Club; Martha Gaston, president of the Philadelphia PRSA chapter and VP Corporate Communication at TD Bank; Nina Scimenes Rodebaugh, president of the Philadelphia PR Association; Kory Aversa, CEO of Aversa PR; and Mike Gross, partner at AKCG – PR Counselors.
