East Stroudsburg University Theatre Department to Present Cabaret

Kander and Ebb’s hit musical Cabaret will be presented by East Stroudsburg University’s theatre department. The 21-student cast, directed by Jason Narvy, Ph.D., assistant professor of theatre, will welcome audiences to the “Kit Kat Club” April 20-23.

Curtain times for the production are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (April 20-22) and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23.

All performances are in the Smith-McFarland Theatre of the university’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg.

General admission is $15, senior citizens, faculty and staff (with ID) are $12, students (with ID) are $10, and youth are $5. Tickets are available online in advance at esu.edu/theatretickets. Tickets will also be available at the box office one hour before curtain on performance dates.

The legendary musical is about British nightclub singer Sally Bowles, American writer Cliff Bradshaw, and the uncertainties that mounted in 1929 Berlin.

The cast of ESU’s production of Cabaret includes: Vanessa Smith, a senior theatre major from Effort, Pa., who plays Bowles; Damon Mack, Jr., a freshman theatre major from Allentown, Pa., who plays Bradshaw; Andre Perez, a sophomore theatre major from Saylorsburg, Pa., who plays the Emcee; Shawn Walsh, a junior marine science major from St. Marys, Pa., who plays Herr Schultz;  Mary Bolan, a senior English major from Albrightsville, Pa.; who plays Fräuline Schneider; Ryan Bauer, a senior psychology major from Bangor, Pa., who plays Ernst Ludwig; Adria McGarry, a freshman digital media technologies major from Harrisburg, Pa., who plays Fräuline Kost; Hanna Srour, a senior theatre major from Grove City Pa., who plays Frenchie; Alyssa Cruz, a sophomore psychology major from Mount Pocono, Pa., who plays Rosie; Madison Boltz, a freshman theatre major from Palmyra, Pa., who plays Victor; Kayla Brandt, a freshman early childhood and special education major from North Wales, Pa., who plays Helga; Kathryn Pabon, a sophomore communication major from East Stroudsburg, Pa., who plays Lulu; Emma Kimble, a sophomore middle level education major from Newton, N.J., who plays Fritzie; Diana Rockman, a senior theatre major from East Stroudsburg, Pa., who plays Texas; Kamren Dejesus, a sophomore digital media technologies major from Levittown, Pa., who plays Bobby; Christopher Hoffmann, a freshman theatre major from Middletown, N.J., who plays Herman; Matthew Gulick, a junior theatre major from Phillipsburg, N.J., who plays Max; and Alana Glynn, a senior theatre major from East Stroudsburg, Pa., who plays Hans. Members of the ensemble include Olivia McLaughlin, a freshman theatre major from Southampton, Pa.; Hannah Ressler, a freshman early childhood and special education major from Morrisville, Pa.; and Rania Tabarez, a junior integrated art + design major from Reading, Pa.

In addition to Dr. Narvy, the production team includes: Alexandria Stapel, a senior theatre major from Montague, N.J., as assistant director; Dr. Brian Hodge, assistant professor of music, as musical director; Jessica Batha, instructor of theatre and dance, as choreographer; Bethanie Watson, assistant professor of theatre, as costume designer and scenic designer; and Janine Katona, a junior theatre major from Horsham, Pa., as lighting designer.
