Faculty members from East Stroudsburg University’s department of political science and economics will participate in a panel discussion, “The Russia-Ukraine Crisis” on Tuesday, March 15. The discussion will take place in Beers Lecture Hall at 5:30 p.m. and will also be livestreamed on the ESU Live Events webpage. It is open to the general public at no cost.
ESU professors of political science, Dr. Kenneth Mash, Dr. Johan Eliasson and Dr. Ko Mishima, are the panelists who will provide insight into unfolding crisis in Ukraine. Political science professor and department chair, Dr. Samuel Quainoo, will be the panel moderator and present questions to ESU panelists.
“It’s important for all of us to have these conversations,” says Dr. Quainoo. “Our intent is to help individuals understand the crisis unfolding in Ukraine. We want to help our campus and the community at large understand the history that has led to these current events and their political and economic implications.”
Quainoo says the panel will discuss implications on the European Union and the United States as well as take a close look at the influence this crisis has on China and Taiwan. “In some respects, the relationship between China and Taiwan are very similar to that of Russia and Ukraine. This current situation may give us some insight as to how those countries can resolve their conflicts.”
