The Student Senate at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania invites the local community to campus for the 12th Annual Community on the Quad, which will be held on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 5 p.m. This year’s theme, “Casino,” will feature activities for all ages to enjoy, including mock casino games, live entertainment and a caricaturist. The event is open to the general public at no cost, and a free picnic lunch will be served for everyone attending.
Community on the Quad is intended to bring the campus and local community together for an afternoon of fun, while also sharing valuable information about organizations and businesses within the campus and our local communities. ESU student clubs and organizations, along with local businesses, set up tables to inform attendees about service opportunities and businesses in the region. Local businesses and organizations can reserve a 10-foot-by-10-foot space (with a 6-foot table and two chairs) for a $20 donation, while campus clubs and organizations also make a nominal donation to participate. Proceeds from Community on the Quad will support an ESU scholarship fund in memory of Carole Reilly, who was once a member of the ESU Student Activity Association support staff working with the Student Senate who passed away in 2010.
The Student Senate at East Stroudsburg University is committed to accurately representing the views of the university’s student body and providing services to individual students in order to advance their academic and social progress. The Student Senate is comprised of 10 executive committee members and 35 senators. The Senate promotes the general welfare of the ESU student body. It serves as a medium for expressing the opinions of the university students on matters of general interest by providing experience for all of its members in leadership skills and democratic government. The group is also responsible for oversight of student organizations and allocation of student activity funds.
