Taylor has been selected as a Keystone Technology Innovator STAR.

East Stroudsburg University alumna Kelley Taylor has been selected as a Keystone Technology Innovator STAR for the 2019-20 academic year. Taylor graduated from ESU with a Master of Education in instructional technology with a PK-12 specialist instructional technology certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in December 2019. She is a fourth grade teacher in the Pocono Mountain School District.

Technology Innovator STARs are classroom teachers who fully utilize the many benefits technology offers to improve instructional practices across their content areas. In doing this, the teacher does not focus on the technology itself; rather, on student learning and uses technology as a tool to support this end. The program is administered by PAECT (Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology).

Taylor was nominated by her school’s principal who stated in the nominated form that she engages students in, and has them interact with, content; assists students in mastering local and state standards; fosters students’ curiosity, creativity and willingness to take risks; engages students in problem-solving activities that are meaningful, reflecting real-world tasks; promotes collaboration and communication between students; encourages students to take ownership of their work and become more self-directed learners; and addresses the diverse needs of learners.

Taylor and other Keystone Technology Innovator STARs will attend a weeklong summit July 27 – 31, 2020 that will provide resources and opportunities to nurture and enrich the skills of the selected educational leaders, while advocating the importance of technology in education
