East Stroudsburg University announced this year’s LGBTQIA2s+ History Month keynote speaker will be Corinne Goodwin, founder and Executive Director of Eastern PA Trans Equity Project. Her presentation, Celebrating Trans Joy, will take place on Wednesday, October 25 at 6 p.m., in Beers Lecture Hall. The event is open to the public at no cost.

Corinne Goodwin (She/They) is the founder and Executive Director of Eastern PA Trans Equity Project a non-profit organization with a mission of empowering transgender individuals while building community and advocating for social justice. An award-winning community leader and in-demand speaker, Goodwin actively works on issues impacting the lives of LGBTQ Pennsylvanians ranging from legislative action to advocating for safe housing and food  access. In addition to her role at Eastern PA Trans Equity Project, she also serves on the Board of Keystone Equality and volunteers with other organizations promoting diversity, equity and inclusion including the ACLU, the Pennsylvania Youth Congress, the United Way, Chamber of Commerce, and more.

The presentation, Celebrating Trans Joy, is about claiming one’s identity and celebrating it – for themselves and as an act of revolution and resilience for their community. This interactive workshop will explore the concept of “Trans Joy” including how we can celebrate our transness 365 days a year, what that means for ourselves, for others, and how it can impact the community’s future.
