ESU Announces Panel Discussions Surrounding Presidential Debate on September 29

Faculty members from East Stroudsburg University’s political science and economics department will participate in a panel discussion before the nationally-televised presidential debate featuring Democratic nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden, and the Republican nominee, President Donald Trump, on Tuesday, September 29 from 9 to 10:30 p.m.

ESU professors of political science, Dr. Kenneth Mash and Dr. Johan Eliasson, are the panelists that will provide insight into what to expect from the candidates during a Zoom event from 8 to 9 p.m. Political science professor and chair of ESU’s political science and economics department, Dr. Samuel Quainoo will be the panel moderator and present questions to ESU panelists during the session.“The goal of this event is to help viewers understand the topics that will be discussed and their importance to this moment in American history,” noted Dr. Quainoo. “We hope to help viewers gain a better understanding of each candidate’s platform.”

According to the Commission on Presidential Debates, the topics to be covered by Vice President Biden and President Trump include: the Biden and Trump records, the Supreme Court, COVID-19, the economy, and race and violence in our cities. Each segment is to last approximately 15 minutes.
