As we prepare for the winter and the inclement weather the season brings, ESU reminds students, faculty and staff to visit the ESU website for updated announcements regarding possible class cancelations, delays and/or university closings or tune in to the radio, television stations and websites listed below.

When possible, ESU’s inclement weather messages will be shared by 6 a.m. concerning morning classes, 11 a.m. for afternoon classes and 2:30 p.m. for evening classes on the main campus and at the Lehigh Valley Center. ESU students receiving instruction at other campuses or involved in specific activities outside of the classroom (e.g. internships, externships, field experience, clinical rotations, etc.) are instructed to follow procedures announced by those particular establishments (e.g. high schools, hospitals, businesses, etc.).

The university’s primary method for distributing weather-related announcements is via its E2Campus Emergency Notification System, which provides both text message and email communication. We strongly encourage the entire campus community to visit esu.edu/emergency to sign up for the university’s E2Campus Emergency Notification System. The E2Campus system is used solely for weather and emergency notifications and is not used for any other communication.

Weather announcements, specifically addressing hours of operation for campus resources, will be shared with the campus community via e-mail, as well as being posted to the ESU homepage by 7 a.m. on mornings of inclement weather messaging. Updates (if there are any) will be posted at noon and 5 p.m., same day.

Specific announcements are as follows:

  • Classes Delayed: University classes will start at a specific time. A delayed opening generally applies to the class schedule only. Employees should report at their regular time.
  • Classes Canceled: Classes are canceled but other activities and functions on campus continue as scheduled. Offices and services remain, unless otherwise announced.
  • Closed: The university is closed and all university functions are canceled.
