ESU Announces Womxn History Month Keynote Speaker

The Gender and Sexuality Center at East Stroudsburg University will be celebrating Womxn’s History Month throughout the month of March. The X in womxn is to focus on the importance of intersectionality within our student’s identity development and to highlight the dynamic identities of womxnhood.

As part of the month-long celebration, Sofia B. Pertuz, Ph.D. will be ESU’s Womxn’s History Month keynote speaker. The keynote address, “Finding Your Voice When It Can’t be Loud…Just Yet,” will be delivered virtually, via Zoom, on Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public.

Dr. Pertuz is a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) professional with over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, assessment, and critical incident management in higher education and inclusive excellence. Pertuz is the founder and lead DEI strategist for Mainstream Insight LLC and serves as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the Jed Foundation, a nonprofit that protects the emotional health and prevents suicide for young people. She has been an invited speaker to international audiences on topics in leadership, change management, social justice, and LGBTQ advocacy, and has delivered keynotes in Spanish and English. Pertuz completed a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from SUNY New Paltz and earned her master’s and Ph.D. in higher education leadership, management, and policy from Seton Hall University. Pertuz holds a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion for HR from Cornell University.
