As part of the STEAM project (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), East Stroudsburg University’s art + design department is presenting two 3D workshops, each focusing on a different aspect of this cutting-edge technology, on February 20 and 21.
The workshops will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a lunch break, in the 3D design studio, G-3D, of the university’s Fine & Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, East Stroudsburg. Both workshops are open to the public.
On Saturday February 20 the workshop will focus on the emerging field of 3D printing, which has multiple applications in a wide variety of areas. The workshop is open to individuals from eighth grade up.. Art and design software experience is not required. There is a $20 materials fee for the workshop.
On Sunday, February 21 the workshop, “So You Want to be a Product Designer?” will explore the innovative uses of technology in the area of product design. The hands-on workshop for students from eighth grade through college will let participants experience the process of product design through the design and creation of a laser-cut box. There is a $10 materials fee for the workshop.
Space for each workshop is limited and registration is required. To register, email esuarts@esu.edu.
The workshops receive state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
