2/12/2021 12:00:00 AM

EAST STROUDSBURG – Nine East Stroudsburg University varsity athletics teams are preparing for their schedules this spring, the Warriors' first competition since March 10, 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Six traditional spring sports – baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, women's golf, and men's and women's outdoor track and field – will be joined by women's swimming and men's and women's cross country, which will compete in a limited schedule.

"After nearly 12 months of not being able to participate in NCAA competition due to the pandemic, many of our sports are very excited to get back onto their 'field of play' for competition in the next few weeks," said Dr. Gary R. Gray, ESU director of athletics.

"Other sports will continue to train, some with scrimmages against outside competition, through the remainder of the spring semester. Our student-athletes, coaches and staff have worked hard to get to this point, and we wish them all the best in terms of health, safety and success between now and May."
