East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is hosting the eighth annual Rec Ex 5K on Sunday, October 25. The run, which will begin and end at Eiler-Martin Stadium, is a fundraiser for the exercise science club and the recreation center. This event is open to the general public. The participation fee is $25 to run and $10 to walk. ESU students can run at a discounted rate of $20 and $10 to walk.
The first 100 people to sign up for the 5K will receive a neon green t-shirt. Winners will receive a long sleeve shirt with the word champion inscribed on the sleeve.
“This could be someone’s first step into a healthy lifestyle,” Melissa Huzar, a graduate student studying exercise science, said. “We love involving the community in university events — I guarantee it will be a good time.”
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the stadium and the race starts at 8 a.m. To register for the 5K visit www.esu.edu/5kentry. For more information contact Jill Harper, director of the Mattioli Recreation Center, at 570-422-2977 or jharper@esu.edu.
