ESU Honors Students at 26th Annual Student Recognition Awards

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania hosted the 26th Annual Student Recognition Awards on April 26. More than 40 students and student organizations received awards.
Eight of those students received the President’s Outstanding Service Awards. Faculty, staff and community members nominate students for this award in two categories: Student Employee Service to the University or Student Service to the Community. Students nominated for the President’s Outstanding Service Award are recognized for unique or genuinely outstanding service, or for service performed under special circumstances.
President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D., presented plaques to the following recipients of the President’s Outstanding Service Awards: Derek Hess, a graduate student studying history from Palmyra, Pa., Efia King, a senior majoring in sociology and communication studies from Philadelphia, Pa., Jon Madrak, a senior majoring in public health from Philadelphia, Pa., Sharon Shin, a senior majoring in English from Stroudsburg, Pa., Zara Khawaja, a junior majoring in public health from Stroudsburg, Pa., Allison White, a graduate student studying instructional technology from Milford, Pa., Molly Ryan, a junior majoring in social work from Stroudsburg, Pa., and Alyssa Simeone, a sophomore majoring in biology from Mount Pocono, Pa.
ESU’s Student Senate and the Residence Hall Association have sponsored the President’s Outstanding Service Awards for 26 years.
