ESU Hosts Seminar on German and American Employment Practices

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) and the German-American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) of Philadelphia are hosting a seminar titled German and American Employment Practices: A Comparative View to Immigration and Employee-Employer Relationship Matters on Thursday, April 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Center City in the Mellon Independence Center, 701 Market St., Concourse Level, Philadelphia, Pa.
According to the seminar’s organizer, Christopher Brooks, Dr. phil., associate professor of history and pre-law advisor at ESU, this event is valuable to faculty members, college students, legal professionals and all who are interested in learning about international employment practices. The seminar will address the major legal issues U.S. employers and employees must consider regarding US-German inbound and outbound foreign assignments. The participants include Robert Fleischman, J.D., Ed.D., dean of the ESU college of business and management; Dr. Brooks; Ralf D. Wiedemann, J.D., honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany and United States Immigration law specialist; Eric Meyer, J.D., partner at Dilworth Paxon LLP and employment law specialist; and Johannes Moosburner, deputy consul of the Federal Republic of Germany and German immigration law specialist.
“It will provide a basis for understanding how the German and United State legal systems work,” Dr. Brooks said.
The audience will be introduced to an overview of United States and German employment legal considerations, detailed panel discussion, and a question and answer session with the expert faculty. There will also be an opportunity to evaluate the program.
This seminar is open to the public and free of charge. Legal professionals seeking Pennsylvania CLE credits are required to pay a tuition fee of $100 for the 1.5 program credits. To register visit http://esu.edu/USGerman. Only registered attendees who have paid in advance will receive CLE credit.
