East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania has partnered with Academics for Veterans, an organization that aims to educate, train and support veterans as they work toward achieving their educational and occupational goals.
“The organization’s mission coincides with ESU’s commitment to its veterans,” June Pepe, assistant director of veterans and records services, said.
Academics for Veterans will host its first educational fair for veterans, their families and those currently serving in the military on Saturday, February 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Moravian College in Bethlehem.
Academics for Veterans is the result of collaboration among the members of the Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council (LVMAC), a coalition of institutions of higher learning and technical training schools. LVMAC also awards an annual $1,000 scholarship to college students, including those at ESU.
Joshua Pabellon, a freshman majoring in biology from Effort, Pa., will be part of the student panel at the fair and will share his experience on transitioning from the military to student life.
ESU will continue to work with Academics for Veterans to ensure educational opportunities and information are available for veterans. To register for the Academics for Veterans Educational Fair visit http://a-for-vets.org/. There will be an ESU information table at the fair.
