Provost’s Colloquium Series Presents Understanding and Preventing Suicide

The East Stroudsburg University Fall 2017 Provost’s Colloquium Series continues with Anthony Drago, Ed.D., and his talk titled “Understanding and Preventing Suicide” on September 27, 2017. The talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall on the ESU campus.

Dr. Drago is a professor and chair of the psychology department at ESU. He is also a psychologist in private practice and a consultant to various behavioral health agencies in the Pocono Mountain area. Drago’s areas of expertise include Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 5th edition (DSM-5), suicide and trauma. Dr. Drago has lectured on numerous occasions in the United States, China and Costa Rica. Currently, his research interests include self-efficacy, locus of control, suicide subtypes and caregiver response to autism.

“Understanding and Preventing Suicide” will discuss the issues and disorders that lead to suicide and what can be done to recognize and help prevent it. Drago will provide an overview of suicide statistics, understanding the link between suicide and various psychological disorders, and methods to assess suicide risk.  The event is free and open to the public.
