On October 17, 2024, East Stroudsburg University students taking Sport Management Organization and Administration class hosted a philanthropic Pickleball Tournament on campus at the Mattioli Recreation Center. The event featured 32 teams and collected over 250 donated items to benefit the Warrior Food Pantry. Designed as a fun and competitive initiative, the tournament provided an opportunity for ESU students and staff to come together while raising awareness and support for local community needs. The top three teams were awarded prizes, with the champions receiving custom championship rings. “This event enabled students to gain firsthand experience in event planning, execution, and evaluation, all while giving back to the community,” said Dr. Edward Arner, assistant professor of sport management. Photos from the event can be found on ESU’s Flickr Album.
The sport management students who planned the event are: Brianna Anderson (junior), Austin Blank (sophomore), Makai Booker (senior), Tyler Boone (senior), Sidikie Daramy (freshman), Diella Dreher (senior), Evan Dunkelberger (senior), Hailey Errhalt (senior), Samiyah Little (senior), Angelina Luciano (junior), Anthony Maffea (junior), Bradan Mallon (junior), Logan McDonald (senior), Pieter Neerhof (junior), John Pride (junior), Michael Ramos (senior), Elijah Rivera (junior), Charlotte Simon (junior), Abigail Simonetti (senior), Brady Snyder (junior), Odysseus Soberal (junior), and Timothy Walsh (junior).
