Austin Weitman, a sophomore majoring in sport management at East Stroudsburg University, will have a behind-the-scenes view of the 2021 Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla., thanks to a scholarship he received from Living Sport. Weitman, from Berkeley Heights, N.J, was the only college student out of over a hundred applicants nationwide to receive this honor. This Legacy Scholarship, awarded by Living Sport, will enable Weitman to travel with other members of Living Sport to Tampa, Fla., in February 2021 to participate in Super Bowl LV activities, partnering with the Super Bowl Host Committee.
“I’m looking forward to this trip and the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone as a young professional in the sport industry,” said Weitman. “I’m grateful to my ESU professors for giving me the tools to success in my field of study. I can’t wait to get a taste of what it takes to work a major sporting event like the Super Bowl.”
Weitman’s duties in Tampa will include partnering with the Super Bowl Host Committee as they operate the week fan festivities. Also, Weitman will partake in professional development workshops.
Founded by ESU graduate Alicia Marinelli M’07, Living Sport’s International Sport Business (ISB) program “gives young adults the chance … to become a well-rounded individual and use opportunities with ISB to stand out from other applicants while searching for a job.
