Tis the season to celebrate the holidays at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. ESU is kicking off the holiday season on December 1 with its annual Holiday on the Circle celebration 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts on the front circle of campus, followed by the lighting of the Menorah and Holiday Tree. The program will celebrate Hanukah, Kwanzaa and Christmas. The event is free and the community is invited to join in for refreshments, music, and fun!
“We’ve taken a time-honored university tradition to new heights this year,” said Mary Frances Postupack, vice president for economic development and research support. “We want to invite our campus community, our neighbors and our alumni back for this program featuring songs written by former students and alumni. The event will celebrate unique holiday traditions that can be enjoyed by all.”
This year’s Holiday on the Circle event will feature Along the Road, a folk/rock quintet including ESU alumnus Paul Kranz ’87 and his songs about his holiday memories at ESU. Other ESU students, alumni, student organizations and community groups will also be on hand for this family-focused celebration of the holiday season. Guests for this event include ESU’s Gospel Choir; Michael Lloret, a senior majoring in theatre from Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pa., alumna Robin Smith ’04; Monsignor John A. Bergamo of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, Pa.; and Rabbi Baruch Melman of Temple Israel of the Poconos in Stroudsburg, Pa.
