Students and Faculty Present at American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention

Seven East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania faculty members and over 70 graduate and undergraduate students attended the convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association held in Philadelphia in November. The event was attended by over 15,000 individuals seeking continuing education, networking, and job and educational opportunities.

Faculty and students were involved in presentations at the event. Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders Susan Dillmuth-Miller, Au.D, along with program graduates Dawn Craig and Mark Wallace presented a seminar called “Don’t Settle for a Could Not Test: Strategies to Screen the Hearing of Individuals with Autism.” Dr. Dillmuth-Miller also presented a poster session called “Attitudes Towards Noise Exposure: CSD vs. Non-CSD Students” with Theodore Johnson of Validosta State and Benjamin Lovett of SUNY Cortland. Professor and Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders Elaine M. Shuey, Ph.D., presented a poster called “Interprofessional Education – A Collaboration Between Speech-Language Pathology & Modern Languages” with Jeffrey Ruth, Ph.D., professor and chair of modern languages at ESU, and Morgan Barry Seibert, a graduate student. She also presented a poster called “Service Learning through Computer Tutoring of Older Adults” with graduate student Julie Rehrig and former students Tash Fieldsand and Sarah England. Current graduate student Emily Zborowski presented “Pilot Results of a Voice Evaluation App” with faculty and students from West Chester University, her undergraduate institution.
