East Stroudsburg University will hold its 10th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Thursday, February 8 from 2-4 p.m. in the University Center. This year ESU will team up The Warrior Food Pantry at St. Matthew’s Church. The Day of Service committee is asking “What’s in your 15?” Recognizing that there are 15 weeks in an academic semester, the campaign addresses the issue of food insecurity, and highlights that some students lack the recommended three daily meals. Knowing there are a potential 315 meals a student may rely on the pantry for throughout the semester, the Day of Service is hoping to stock the pantry while underscoring the importance of support of students.
Donations of gift cards, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and non-perishable food items can be brought to the University Center during the Day of Service.
For those unable to attend on February 8, donations can be brought to the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, located on ESU’s campus at 96 Normal Street.
ESU’s Day of Service is an extension of the university’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Breakfast. For more information contact Lyesha Fleming, director of the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Inclusive Education, by calling (570) 422-3869 or email lfleming@esu.edu.
