ESU to Host Women in STEM Forum with Lieutenant General Susan Lawrence (Ret.)

East Stroudsburg University College of Arts and Sciences will welcome Lieutenant General Susan Lawrence (Ret.) to campus on Thursday, October 31. Her presentation, “Achieving Unimaginable Goals,” will discuss her career as a woman in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) field and the path she took to get there. Her talk is part of a forum, “Women in STEM,” held at 4 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall. The forum is open to the public at no cost.

Lieutenant General Lawrence, who was ESU’s commencement speaker in May 2019, will also speak to students in the software engineering classes about her experience developing software for the military, as well as during her post-military career. At 2 p.m., she will hold a session for students about internship and career opportunities after graduation in room 355 of Hoeffner Science and Technology Center.

Lieutenant General Lawrence served in the United States Army where she helped to develop the U.S. Army Cyber Command and improve existing cyber solutions. She also served as Commanding General for the Army’s Network of Enterprise Technology Command where she oversaw the Army C4 and Army Enterprise IT functions.

After retiring from the Army, Lieutenant General Lawrence became senior vice president of the Defense Market Group at Booz Allen Hamilton, a management and information technology consulting firm. She currently works as managing director for Accenture Federal Services, developing technology to combat national security threats.
