East Stroudsburg University invites the general public to attend a sky show, entitled “Long Winter Nights” and a feature show, “Stars,” at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012. The shows will be held in the McMunn Planetarium in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center.

“Long Winter Nights” describes what can be seen in the heavens during the winter months.  “Stars” is a full dome video program featuring the voice of Mark Hamill and incredible 3D animation, accompanied by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.  The show will take viewers on a journey to the furthest reaches of the galaxy and allow them to experience both the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars.

The program is open to the general public at no cost, but reservations are required due to limited seating. Reservations will be taken online starting at 8:00 a.m. (December 3), on a first-come, first-serve basis at www.esu.edu/planetarium.

Reservations for this event will be taken the Monday prior to the show. Those interested in attending planetarium events may reserve up to four seats for a specific show. Programs are suitable for children but be advised that the planetarium will be quite dark during the sky show and feature show.

Group inquiries should send an email request to stardomes@po-box.esu.edu. A schedule of planetarium shows for the spring 2012 semester will be posted at www.esu.edu/planetarium.
