It was a night of music and a time of good cheer at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg, Pa. on Saturday, December 6. The Musical Theatre Organization (MTO) of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania performed at the annual Stroudsmoor Tree Lighting for the second year.

The students dressed up as characters including Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Gingerbread Man and many more. Having to stay in character while children of the community were talking to them was a real test of their acting ability, according to Margaret Ball, D.M.A., associate professor and chair of the theatre department.

“Our students love to perform any chance they get,” said Dr. Ball.

“They know how important it is for the department to receive support from the community, so they look forward to giving back through performances at events like the annual tree lighting.” The students entertained those in attendance with popular carols including ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town.’
