East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s chapter of Tau Sigma, the National Honor Society for Transfer Students, held a food and clothing drive during the week of November 17 to help with the efforts of the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network (PVEN), an organization that provides meals, clothing and other living essentials to low-income families in the community.
“ESU students value engaging in civic activities to make a difference in the lives of members of our community,” Kelly McKenzie, instructor for academic enrichment and learning and co-adviser to Tau Sigma, said.
Over the course of one week, Tau Sigma collected more than eight bags of canned food items and approximately 25 bags of clothing. All donations went to PVEN and will be donated to low-income families in the Pleasant Valley area.
“These contributions to our community showcase ESU as an institution that encourages students to recognize their place in the larger social fabric and make a difference,” McKenzie said.
