East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) University Dance Company (UDC) fall performance will showcase new, exciting dances choreographed by five of the its own students: Alyssa Noll, Kimberly Rittel, Miranda Barbieri, Deven Dan and Joslyn Williams. The shows will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16 and at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17 in the Abeloff Center for the Performing Arts (located in the circle in the front of campus).
Rittel and Noll’s dance, “Malignant,” is an energetic and upbeat hip-hop dance. Barbieri’s “Le Rélevè Comique” is a comedy about a ballet class gone horribly wrong. Dan’s duet with Barbieri, “A Space Between,” explores how two people handle conflict and find resolution between them. Williams’ “Dynamics” portrays the curves, lines and contours of the human body in motion. Other choreographers this year include Dr. Elizabeth Gibbons, professor in the department of movement activities and lifetime fitness, and Natalie Schultz-Kahwaty, an instructor in the department of movement activities and lifetime fitness, who will be bringing a humorous tango spoof and modern dance styles to the performance. Choreography by guest artists Jacqueline Perna and Maria Troiano will also be showcased.
