Faculty Promotions for 2012-2013 Academic Year

The following East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania faculty members have been granted promotions effective with the 2012-2013 academic year. The announcement was made today by President Marcia G. Welsh, Ph.D.
Promoted to the rank of professor are: Dr. Paul Bartoli, psychology; Prof.Stephanie French, theatre; Dr. Reto Muller and Dr. Hooshang Pazaki, sociology; Dr. Steven Shive, health studies; and, Dr.Howard Whidden, biological sciences.
Those promoted to associate professor are: Prof.William Broun and Dr. Jeffrey Hotz, English; Dr. Elizabeth Buzzelli-Clarke, music; Dr. Timothy Connolly, philosophy; Dr. Shannon Frystak, history; Dr. James Hunt, biological sciences; Dr. Michael Jochen, computer science; Dr. Ko Mishima, political science; and, Dr. Beth Sockman, media communications and technology.
Promoted to assistant professor is Professor Wendy Dietrich-Wheeler, intercollegiate athletics.
Promotion applications are reviewed by a university-wide promotions committee, and the committee’s recommendations are forwarded to the president or his/her designee. Categories that warrant a promotion include but are not limited to effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities, continuing scholarly growth, and service to the university and/or community.
