Faculty, Staff Compete for Innovator and Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Nicole Chinnici, director of the Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute, was selected as East Stroudsburg University’s second Innovator and Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient. Chinnici was selected for Tick Research, Testing and Commercialization at ESU.
This year’s winner was selected through a “Shark Tank” style platform. On Monday, July 24, four finalists each gave 10 minute presentations about their entrepreneurial projects followed by a question and answer segment with the judges.
In addition to Chinnici, the finalists were: Maria Soledad Cohen, physics instructor, Warrior Dorm Collection and Community Yard Sale; John Kochmansky, head baseball coach, P3- Public, Private, Partnerships: ESU Baseball, Softball and Little League Community Improvement Project; and Joni Oye-Benintende, Darlene Farris-Labar, David Mazure, professor art + design, New Mind Design-G3D Lab.
The winner will be recognized during the first All-University meeting of the academic year along with this year’s distinguished professor.
