Football Reveals 2021 Schedule

6/17/2021 1:00:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG – Beginning with a Thursday night non-conference battle against Pace on September 2, East Stroudsburg University football head coach Jimmy Terwilliger announced the Warriors 2021 schedule on Thursday.

"I'm excited to see the '21 Warriors back on the gridiron," said Terwilliger. "I am thrilled for the opportunity to coach these young men, and continue to develop this team. It is an exciting time to be a WARRIOR. This year we will unveil the opening of the Jack Gregory '52 football locker room, Eiler-Martin stadium upgrades and a new look to WARRIORS Football. There is a lot to look forward to this upcoming year, a lot of new faces, facilities and uniforms, but our values remain the same: WORK HARD-COMPETE-Do. It. Right. Our schedule is extremely competitive and it starts Thursday night, September 2 against Pace University. Can't wait to bring Football back to Where WARRIORS BELONG!"

ESU will compete against an opponent for the first time in 656 days, when the Warriors host Pace on September 2 at 7:05 p.m. ESU previously defeated the Setters in both the 2010 (57-0) and 2011 (56-14) season openers.

After hosting Pace, ESU jumps into PSAC crossover play, traveling to defending PSAC champion Slippery Rock on September 11. The Warriors seek their first win over The Rock since 2009, after falling in the previous three meetings.

ESU will then host Mercyhurst on September 18 before kicking off PSAC East conference play. The Warriors and Lakers meet for the first time since 2017 and the fifth time overall.

The Warriors begin PSAC East action with a pair of road contests at Lock Haven (Sept. 25) and Kutztown (Oct. 2). ESU has won nine of the past 11 meetings against the Bald Eagles, including a 63-14 rout during its last trip to Hubert Jack Stadium in 2019. The Warriors and Golden Bears meet for the 69th time on October 2, as ESU looks to halt a six-game losing streak to KU.

ESU returns to Eiler-Martin Stadium for Homecoming on Oct. 9 against Millersville. Since 2001, the Warriors boast a 15-4 record over the Marauders, including a 50-7 dominant win in the latest matchup in 2019.

The Warriors then head south to West Chester on Oct. 16. Following the matchup with the Golden Rams, ESU will host both Bloomsburg (Oct. 23) and Shippensburg (Oct. 30) on back-to-back weekends to close out October.

ESU opens November with one last road trip, when the Warriors venture to Shepherd for the second time as a conference foe and the eighth meeting overall.

The PSAC Championship Game will take place on Nov. 13. The Warriors will host Gannon at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Nov. 13 if it does not qualify for the conference championship.

Kickoff times and dates are subject to change. A full promotion schedule will be announced at a later date.
