Madelon Powers Gallery to Present Senior Seminar and Portfolio in Art Student Exhibition

East Stroudsburg University’s Madelon Powers Gallery will feature art works and portfolios of selected students in a Senior Seminar and Portfolio in Art Student Exhibition April 12-May 4.

The exhibition also will include works produced by the art + design department’s student design agency, New Mind Design; comic art created at recent Comic Thons; sketches from the Drawing II class, and other selected student works.

Hours for the gallery, located in the university’s Fine & Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

A reception for the artists will be held Wednesday, April 12 from 4-6 p.m. in the gallery.  Both the exhibit and reception are open to the public at no cost.

At the reception, the 2017 Excellence in the Arts awards will be presented. The art + design department also will present the Dr. Irene Mitchel Three Sisters Endowed Art Scholarship in memory of Helen Mitchel Stetz and Mary Mitchel Kurello and the Cecilia S. Cohen Award for Excellence in Art History.

Senior integrated art + design majors participating in the exhibit include: Amanda Amodeo of Middletown, N.J.; Abigail Cruz of Scotrun, Pa.; Kevina DiNicoa of Belvidere, N.J.; Jillian Gorman of Dublin, Pa.; Ashe Pope of Harrisburg, Pa.; Jessica Ritter of Columbia, N.J.; Alisha Rohrer of Carlisle, Pa.; Jeffrey Shapcott of Bristol, Pa.; Sam Tabshi of Allentown, Pa.; and Morgan Weissbach of Saylorsburg, Pa.

Senior art + design majors featured in the exhibit include: Lauren Aliberto of Philadelphia, Pa.; Andrew Grant of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Jameela Mathis of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and Karen Raptakis of East Stroudsburg.

The exhibit also features works by Evelyn Barone, a junior from Effort, Pa. majoring in biology; Jessica Lepri, a senior from Tannersville, Pa. majoring in interdisciplinary studies; and junior integrated art + design majors Victoria Salvadge from Bethlehem, Pa. and Rachael Swartz from Hackettstown, Pa.
