East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, begins for the Spring 2021 semester with a virtual presentation by Robert Cohen, Ph.D., professor of physics. The presentation “Bomb Cyclones, Global Warming, and the Polar Vortex” will take place on Wednesday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. Access the presentation via this Zoom link: https://esu-online.zoom.us/j/98990438490
Bomb cyclones and the polar vortex are two phenomena often mentioned during an East Stroudsburg winter, but seldom explained. This presentation by Dr. Cohen will utilize current weather information to illustrate and describe each phenomenon in detail. The discussion will focus on how each forms, their impact on our weather, and their relationship, if any, with global warming.
