As part of East Stroudsburg University’s Fall 2017 Provost’s Colloquium Series, Christopher E.S. Warburton, Ph.D., an adjunct faculty member in the department of political science and economics, will present “Sustainable Development and Deglobalization: The Atavism of Insularity.” The talk will be held in Beers Lecture Hall on October 11, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Dr. Warburton will discuss how technological innovation and international trade can spur economic growth and sustainable development within a structured environment of trade agreements. His research analyzes trade imbalances, innovation, exchange rates, poverty, and wages and suggests that trade must be strongly encouraged when wages are stagnant, poverty is substantial, production costs are low, and disposable income is insufficient.

Warburton has published widely in the field of international economics. His most recent papers include “The International Law and Economics of Coercive Diplomacy” in Applied Econometrics and International Development and “A Theory of Currency Unions and Equity Price Shocks” in Journal of Reviews on Global Economics.
