East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, continues the Spring 2022 semester with a presentation by Wesley Brown, instructor of ceramics and ESU Frederick Douglass Scholar. The presentation “My Time and Place” will take place on Wednesday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m. in Beers Lecture Hall. The presentation will also be live streamed on the ESU Live Events webpage.

Brown will present his work and walk through the many processes he has undertaken to arrive at his unique artistic style in clay. Brown’s work addresses issues of belonging, African American identity, and mental health and illness. Brown is an artist who has exhibited works both nationally and internationally. He published an article in Ceramics Monthly titled “Trial and Triumph,” outlining his journey with depression. Brown has completed both short and long term residencies at Baltimore Clayworks in Baltimore, Md. and East Mitchell Clay in Humboldt, Tenn. He has a strong studio work ethic and has gallery representation through the Companion Gallery.
