The Schisler Museum of Wildlife & Natural History and McMunn Planetarium at East Stroudsburg University has set its spring semester hours. The facility is open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The facility is reserved for pre-registered group visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Housed in the Warren E. ’55 and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center, the state-of-the-art planetarium and world-class museum offer something for everyone. Nearly all of the museum’s 130-plus taxidermy exhibits were collected and donated by East Stroudsburg University alumni Arthur ’62 and Fannie Greene ’62 Schisler. The museum also boasts a 300-gallon aquarium and insects from around the globe. The McMunn Planetarium is named in honor of ESU supporters and alumni Charles A. “Tony” ’69 and Patricia Lythgoe ’68 McMunn.

“This semester we are adding a new family program to the schedule. On the first Friday of each month starting in February, we will offer Nature by Night Flashlight Tours,” said Catherine Klingler, curator. “Kids ages 4–13 accompanied by an adult can roam the world’s habitats after dark.” The event includes a flashlight tour, planetarium film, craft and gift bag. To register for this special program, visit esu.edu/museum and go to the Family Program page.

Both the museum and planetarium are included in a single admission price. General admission for the museum and planetarium is $6 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and children ages 3–17; and free for children 2 and under and ESU students with ID. Annual memberships are also available at the Individual ($30), Dual ($50) and Family ($60) level. Anyone interested in museum and planetarium activities may contact Klingler at smcurator@esu.edu or 570-422-2705.
