Social Media and Marketing to be Discussed at Free Business Seminars

The East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) Research and Economic Development (RED) division, in collaboration with its community partners, will hold a series of informative business seminars focused on social media and marketing. The series, titled “Small Business Marketing Boot Camp- Business Success Doesn’t Happen By Chance,” will be hosted by Karl Sterns, President, KMS Marketing Solutions, LLC. This four-part seminar series will offer small business owners in-depth discussions on leveraging social media to improve marketing results.
The series is co-sponsored by the ESU Business Accelerator and NEPA Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). The Business Accelerator program was launched in December 2001 with the goal of encouraging economic development, building a diversified business base, and increasing family-sustaining job opportunities in northeastern Pennsylvania. Its mission is to provide an entrepreneurial environment that supports business start-ups, encourages innovation and enhances the economic vitality of the region.
All seminars will be held at the ESU Innovation Center, 562 Independence Road (Brown Street and Route 447), East Stroudsburg, Pa. The seminars are open to the general public at no cost, however seating is limited and reservations are recommended.

Seminar 1: “The Power of Email Marketing,” Monday July 29, 2013, 9-11:30 a.m.
Effective Emails – Assuring Email Messages are Read.
This seminar explores the process of email marketing to maximize the possibility that the email is read. Participants will learn how to develop effective email marketing strategies beyond email blasts.
Seminar 2: “Social Media Made Simple,” Tuesday July 30, 2013, 9-11:30 a.m.
It’s Not About “Clever” Cat Videos – Really?
Social media has transformed the landscape of communication for both social and business contacts. Participants will learn how to effectively incorporate social media tools and techniques to maximize marketing opportunities.
Seminar 3: “Grow Your Business with Email and Social Media,” Monday, August 5, 2013, 9-11:30 a.m.
Preparing Your Marketing Plan
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail! This workshop includes a simple, four-page workbook that will form the basis for a strategic marketing plan.
Seminar 4: “Get Your Hands On It!” Tuesday, August 6, 2013, 9-11:30 a.m.
Organizing and Optimizing Your Company’s Email Newsletter and Facebook Page
This two-hour, hands-on training session will provide participants with an email template to incorporate text and graphics to create and distribute effective social media and email messages.
