Stony Acres Hosts PA State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Conference

Stony Acres recently hosted the fourth annual Joint Eastern District Association and Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance conference, which drew participants from many colleges and universities, including several from East Stroudsburg University.

More than 50 students from 15 schools were represented, including ESU, Lock Haven, Edinboro, Lancaster Bible College, Slippery Rock, Springfield College (Mass.), Messiah College, West Chester, IUP, Penn State, University of Delaware, Montclair State, Central Connecticut State and Rowan College. 

The three-day conference, which ran from September 27-29 included workshops on Leadership, Adapted Physical Education, Professionalism, Advocacy, a campfire at night and use of the challenge course.  ESU students Nate Becker, a sophomore physical education major from Bernville, Pa.; Caitlin Molloy, a junior physical education major from Vernon, N.J.; Kaitlin Kuchar, a junior physical education major from Bangor, Pa.; Emily Viola, a junior physical education major from Ringwood, N.J.; and Franklin Mercedes, a freshman physical education major from Allentown, Pa.; all participated. Gene White, Ph.D., ESU professor of physical education, also attended. The conference proved to be an exciting educational adventure.
