The Second International Sport and Coaching Summit With Chinese Culture University

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is hosting its second International Sport and Coaching Summit where fifteen faculty, coaches, and invited students from Chinese Culture University will participate in a series of sessions from July 16-18. The purpose of the summit is to exchange information with faculty and coaches from Chinese Culture University about sport science and coaching theory and methods in an effort to enhance performance of athletes.

Most of the sessions associated with the summit will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Kurtz Lecture Hall with afternoon sessions held in the arena and natatorium of Koehler Fieldhouse and the Wohlber Tennis Courts. The summit is being organized and led by: Dr. Kevin Casebolt, associate professor of movement activities and lifetime fitness; Dr. Stanley Li-Ming Chiang, assistant professor of movement activities and lifetime fitness; and,  Dr. Shawn Munford, assistant professor of movement activities and lifetime fitness. United States Tennis Association-certified professional tennis players Ben Evenden and Mohesh Koregaokar will deliver tennis coaching sessions.

The morning sessions in Kurtz Lecture Hall will feature lectures by faculty members from the academic departments of exercise science, movement activities and lifetime fitness, and athletic training as well as coaches from ESU’s intercollegiate athletics department.

Session topics of discussion include: performance nutrition, training program design and application, aerobic and anaerobic training, resistance training and performance psychology as well as afternoon sport-specific training sessions in track and field, swimming, and tennis.
