Three New Board Members Named to ESU Foundation

Robert Willever ’75, East Stroudsburg University Foundation Board Chair, has announced the appointments of three new members to its Board of Directors. ESU alumni Alfredo Garcia ’03 of Bethlehem, Pa., local businessman Stephen Somers of Hackettstown, N.J., and student liaison Emily Jimenez ‘22, were appointed during the board’s quarterly meeting held on May 13, 2019.

Garcia is a financial advisor for Wells Fargo Advisors. Somers is the owner and president of Vigon International, Inc. Jimenez is a business management major from Byram Township, N.J. Their terms began on July 1, 2019.

“On behalf of the ESU Foundation Board of Directors, I wish to express our gratitude to these three new members for agreeing to serve in these important roles. I am confident that they will make immediate contributions to the ESU community by furthering the goals of the ESU Foundation,” said Willever.

The ESU Foundation Board of Directors includes 17 members who serve in support of the organization and its mission. Returning members of the Board of Directors are Dr. Frank M. Pullo ’73 M’76, vice chairman; Christopher Yeager ’74 M’81, secretary; Robert A. Shebelsky, treasurer; Harry F. Lee, Esq., council of trustees liaison; Dr. Elizabeth Leigh Smith, faculty liaison; David A. Super ’80, alumni association liaison; MaryEllen Dickey ’80; Raymond Hamlin, Esq. ’86; Wendy Jankoski ’82; Douglas Leonzi ’94; Robert Moses; Geoffrey Roche M’15; and Adam Stauffer ’00 M’02.

The mission of the ESU Foundation is to secure philanthropic support for scholarships, academic and athletic programs, student activities, and capital improvements. Key initiatives for 2019-2020 include increasing the number of annual and endowed scholarships, funding for athletics, and fundraising for the Community Health Education & Simulation Center.
