{"id":10634,"date":"2014-09-30T14:59:09","date_gmt":"2014-09-30T18:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/?p=10634"},"modified":"2014-10-03T13:14:58","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T17:14:58","slug":"esus-student-art-association-esus-student-art-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quantum.esu.edu\/insider\/esus-student-art-association-esus-student-art-association\/","title":{"rendered":"ESU\u2019s Student Art Association Color the Streets of Stroudsburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/art_association1.jpg\" alt=\"art_association1\" class=\"newshide\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 100%;\" \/><br \/>\nEast Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania\u2019s Student Art Association colored the streets of Stroudsburg, Pa., last week as part of Project Street Art, which was started by local artists to add creativity through artwork to 10 locations across Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" src=\"http:\/\/quantumnew.esu.edu\/insider\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/art_association2.jpg\" alt=\"art_association2\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10638\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px; max-width: 30%;\" \/>The project began this summer with a series of murals on Main Street in Stroudsburg. Local artist Shane Izykowski, one of the leaders of Project Street Art, contacted David Mazure, ESU associate professor of art and design, to ask if students would be interested in working on the murals in the local area.<\/p>\n<p>The students who were interested joined Nova Chan, ESU art and design graduate whose artwork was selected for one of the murals. The mural was completed Thursday, September 18 and Saturday, September 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a huge success,\u201d Chan said of her time working with Project Street Art. \u201cAs a future art therapist, I feel it is really amazing how art can bring people together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to get more involved and use our creativity to see how we can help the local community,\u201d said Aisha George, vice president of the Student Art Association and a senior art and design major from Bath, Pa.<\/p>\n<p>President of the Student Art Association, Angel Rodriguez, a senior art and design major from Bethlehem, Pa., says students should take on opportunities for community service more often.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is mostly confined to the four walls of a classroom.
