An East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania graduate student, Brittany Elizabeth Glen of Northampton, Pa., recently was awarded a Love of Learning award worth $500 by the national honor society Phi Kappa Phi\u2014 the nation\u2019s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.<\/p>\n
Glen is pursuing a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and plans on applying funds from the award toward her tuition at ESU.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was honored and excited to receive the award as there were more than 900 applicants,\u201d said Glen. \u201cThis award has encouraged me to continue to work hard so I can reach my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year, Phi Kappa Phi awarded 147 recipients nationwide. All award winners are featured in the upcoming winter edition of Forum<\/em> magazine. The Love of Learning Awards Selection Committee was impressed with Glen\u2019s \u201csuperior academic record and life and career ambitions,\u201d according to the congratulatory letter she received.<\/p>\n The Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award program was initiated in 2007 to help fund graduate or professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development and travel related to teaching and studies for active society members.
