East Stroudsburg University will host its first basketball clinic for Challenger Sports on Tuesday, December 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse. The Challenger Association of Monroe County, Pa., a non-profit organization that designs its sports programs for players who are developmentally delayed or physically challenged, partnered up with ESU\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams to host a clinic for children with special needs.<\/p>\n
Alyssa Simeone, a sophomore biology major from Mount Pocono, Pa., community service chair for the Pre-Med club, a student-athlete on the women\u2019s soccer team and coach for the Challenger Association, organized this event. She hopes this event will become an annual tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to give the children who are part of Challenger Sports a great experience with our East Stroudsburg University student-athletes,\u201d Simeone said.<\/p>\n
The children in attendance will have the opportunity to take part in small sideline games and meet members from both teams.<\/p>\n
A number of ESU student organizations will be in attendance at the clinic to volunteer, including the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Pre-Med Club.<\/p>\n
